Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to extend her cabinet on Wednesday. Sources at the Cabinet Division told UNB that AH Mahmood Ali, an MP from Dinajpur-4 constituency, will take oath as a minister and he is expected to get the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They said President Abdul Hamid will administer the oath at Bangabhaban at 12 noon. They also said Nazrul Islam, an MP from Narsingdi-1, may take oath as a state minister. On January 12, 29 ministers, 17 state ministers and two deputy ministers were sworn in as Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League-led alliance won the 10th parliamentary polls held on January 5 with absolute majority. A career diplomat, AH Mahmood Ali discharged his duties as Foreign Minister in Sheikh Hasina’s interim government that oversaw the parliamentary polls, according to a news agency.
