Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has laid emphasis on improvement of infrastructure first if Bangladesh and India want to continue transit of foodgrains through Bangladesh to India’s North-East. “Also, she (Hasina) mentioned that if we’ve to do this on a regular basis, infrastructure needs to be improved,” said Indian official Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin in New York after the meeting between Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the 69th UNGA. Akbaruddin said there was discussion on connectivity with Bangladesh, and Indian Prime Minister thanked Sheikh Hasina for the permission given for the transit of food grains via Bangladesh to India’s North-East, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India, according to a news agency.
