Monday, 3 November 2014

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday paid homage to four national leaders and family members of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths on their graves at Banani Graveyard marking the 40th Jail Killing Day. On November 3 in 1975, the four national leaders and heroes of the country’s Liberation War – Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, Captain Mansur Ali and AHM Quamruzzaman – were assassinated inside the Dhaka Central Jail as part of a conspiracy to make the country leaderless after the assassination of Bangabandhu. She first placed wreaths on the graves as the PM and stood there in solemn silence for some time. Flanked by central leaders of Awami League, Sheikh Hasina placed another round of wreaths on the graves of national leaders and family members of Bangabandhu on behalf of the party. She also offered fateha and munajat for the eternal salvation of the departed souls, according to a news agency.
