TOKYO: It was a just a signature. But the signature made Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina emotional. It was the signature of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which was signed 40 years back, according to a news agency.
Bangabandhu put the signature both in Bangla and English — Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, dated 29.10.73. He, however, did not make any remark. At that time, he was the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
Sheikh Hasina Wednesday became emotional when she saw the signature at the visitors’ book kept at Japan National Press Club (JNPC).
Bangabandhu visited the JNPC on October 29 in 1973 during his tour to Japan. After visiting the Press Club, he signed the visitor’s book.
After long four decades, Bangabandhu’s daughter, Sheikh Hasina, who is now also the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, visited the Japan National Press Club Wednesday. It was Hasina’s last day on a four-day official tour to Japan.
