Hasina to attend Berlin World Health Summit

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave Dhaka for Berlin on October 22 to attend the World Health Summit- 2011, reports UNB.
She will deliver a keynote speech at the Summit on October 23.
The World Health Summit under the motto 'Today's Science - Tomorrow's Agenda,' will focus on non-communicable diseases and role of mass media in health promotion.
It will also focus on new approaches in research and innovation, ensuring public health in times of climate change and innovative models in global health governance.
The World Health Summit is the annual conference of the M8 Alliance of Academic Health Centres and Medical Universities together with the National Academies.
It is one of the world's foremost gatherings of leaders from academia, politics, industry and civil society to develop joint strategies and address key challenges in medical research, global health and health care delivery with the aim of shaping the political, academic and social agenda.
After successful inaugural conference in 2009, on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the World Health Summit is being held annually.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy are patronising the health summit.
Hasina is scheduled to talk with Angela Merkel over a luncheon on various issues of mutual interests. She will be given the federal military honour.
She will attend a reception to be hosted by students of Bangla Pathsala at Bangladesh House in Berlin on October 22.
On October 23, she will attend another reception to be hosted by non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) living in Germany at Hotel Adlon Kempiniski.
After attending the Summit, Hasina will join the Presidential reception.
On October 24, she will attend a seminar on Trade & Investment at Hotel Adlon in Berlin.
Later, she will call on the President of German parliament, Bundestag.
