Hathurusingha\\\'s comments on team selection upsets board

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has no plans to include the coach in the process of selecting players, reports bdnews24.com.
The board's position was made clear Tuesday after the coach Chandika Hathurusingha had expressed his frustration for not having the 'best squad' in the World Cup.
Hathurusingha had said he thought a coach should have a role in squad selection as he was held to account for the team's performance.
BCB's Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Naimur Rahman Durjoy said only BCB selectors will choose the players.
Durjoy said the coach would have to inform the board if he wanted to get involved in the selection process.
The Sri Lanka-born coach on March 23 said he had never demanded any role in selection of Bangladesh squad.
Durjoy expressed his frustration over the remarks of the coach.
The former Bangladesh captain said he thought Hathurusingha's comments went against the BCB and its chief.
He also said, "His remarks are in breach of code of conduct in some way."
"The selectors pick up players and send the list to the Cricket Operations Committee. It is made public after getting the president's clearance."
The BCB panel of selectors include three former captains.
Faruk Ahmed is the chief selector. Minhajul Abedin and Habibul Bashar are the two other members of the panel.
"The selectors should be allowed to do their job. They take decisions after taking the coach's opinion. In this case, the coach and the selectors may not be in agreement all the time," Durjoy said.
"But even after this, it was not fair to speak in this manner," he said, referring to Hathurusingha's comments.
He said if someone spoke for and against the players, it will have an impact on their mindset.
"I will term it his (Hathurusingha) naivety. No coach should speak in this way. It is not positive for any team," Durjoy said.
"He has been asked to maintain the chain of command," he added.
