Hatir Jheel lake
Friday, 7 August 2015
We often learn through media about the state of our environment, while some agencies often protest publicly by forming human chains, displaying banners and placards etc. Millions of Tax payers' money was spent in developing Hatir Jheel project and it was a good project worth its name. Unfortunately a portion of Hatir Jheel area behind Sonargaon Hotel and BGMEA Bhaban remains dirty and there is a continuous bad smell from the lake.
The authorities concerned should draw a long-term pragmatic plan to maintain the attractive Hatir Jheel area in a proper shape throughout the year. It is a pride project for us which deserves due attention from the authorities for its maintenance. Enough technology is now available and I believe, the dirty water of the lake can be recycled or replaced at regular intervals so that the inhabitants of the neighbouring areas are not required to shut down their doors and windows to the bad smell coming out of the lake.
