Hazari asked to surrender

The High Court asked former Awami League lawmaker Joynal Hazari Wednesday to surrender in eight weeks in trial court in two more cases, reports bdnews24.com.
The court also asked the government not to arrest or harass Hazari during the period.
The bench of justice Syed AB Mahmudul Haque and justice Mainul Islam Chowdhury passed the orders on hearing his petition for bail in cases.
One case was filed under Public Safety Act and the other on charges of persecution of a journalist.
Hazari surrendered before the court around 11:30am to seek bail.
He fled the country on March 17, 2001 and returned Feb. 14. He was tried in his absence in five cases and awarded 60 years in prison.
On February 22, the HC bench granted two months' anticipatory bail to Hazari in a corruption case and asked him to surrender in trial court in eleven cases in eight weeks.
