Monday, 1 December 2014
The Appellate Division has scrapped a High Court verdict that ordered the acquittal of former minister Nazmul Huda and his wife in a bribery case.
Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha gave the order Monday which means the case will again go to trial at the High Court, said ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam, according to a news agency.
The former BNP communications minister was sentenced to five years in prison and fined Tk 25 million by Special Judges Court on Aug 16, 2007.
His wife Sigma Huda was also given a three year sentence.
The couple were acquitted by the High Court on March 20, 2011 following an appeal they filed.
