The High Court asked the government Monday to explain why August 15, the day Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with his family members was assassinated, would not be declared a national mourning day and public holiday.
The government is also to explain why the decision to cancel the national mourning day on August 15 would not be declared illegal.
The High Court Bench of Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Farid Ahmed issued orders after hearing a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Md Mozammel Haque, reports bdnews24.com.
