HC asks JU to reinstate Amarto's candidature for JUCSU VP post

The High Court (HC) on Tuesday directed Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities to reinstate the candidature of Amarto Ray for the post of vice president (VP) in the upcoming Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) election, reports BSS.
The bench comprising Justice Md Mujibur Rahman Miah and Justice Biswajit Debnath passed the order following a hearing on a writ petition filed by Ray, a student of the 2017-18 academic session from the Department of Archaeology. Advocate Manzur Al Matin represented the petitioner, while Advocate Shishir Manir appeared on behalf of the university authorities during the hearing.
Ray, who also serves as the president of the Bangladesh Chhatra Union's JU unit, alleged that the university had unlawfully scrapped his candidacy, prompting him to seek redress from the court.
