HC asks lower court to consider bail petitions of three suspected female militants

The High Court asked the sessions judge court of Pirozpur to consider bail petitions pending with it by today (Wednesday) filed by three suspected women militants arrested recently, reports UNB.
Passing the order upon a writ petition, a division bench, comprising Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Quamrul Islam Siddiqui, issued a rule upon the government to explain in four weeks why the detention of the petitioners should not be declared illegal.
On July 3, Pirozpur police arrested the women in veils--Tania Akhter, Syeda Fowzia Akhter and Jasmin Nahar--under section 54 of the CrPC on suspicion of being Islamist militant activists.
Barrister Abdur Razzaq, a Jamaat leader, appeared for the petitioners while deputy attorney general Rajik Al Jalil for the state.
