HC cancels Mosharraf\\\'s plea, Gatco graft case to continue

The High Court on Tuesday cancelled a writ petition filed by former state minister for energy AKM Mosharraf Hossain, challenging the legality of Gatco graft case.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Bhabani Prasad Singha and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman passed the order, asking Mosharraf to surrender before lower court within two months of getting the copy of this order, a BSS report said.
Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case against 13 people, including Khaleda Zia, her younger son Arafat Rahman and Mosharraf on September 2, 2007 with Tejgaon police station for their role in corruption regarding a contract with Global Agro Trade (Pvt) Co Ltd (Gatco) for container management at inland container depots in Dhaka and Chittagong.
Formal charge was submitted against 24 on May 13, 2008. Mosharraf filed a writ, challenging the legality of the case in the same year.
Following the writ, the High Court stayed the proceedings of the case on August 13, 2008 and issued rule upon the concerned people.
On Tuesday, the High Court disposed of that rule and passed the order.
