HC exempts BCBL chair, MD from contempt charge
FE Report | Tuesday, 11 November 2014
The High Court (HC) exempted Monday Bangladesh Commerce Bank Limited's (BCBL) chairman and its managing director from a contempt of court charge following their compliance with the court's earlier order and apology before it, court sources said.
The HC bench comprising Justice Md. Rezaul Hasan gave the exemption.
Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun appeared for the bank's top officials while Advocate Omar Farouq was for petitioner-cum director of the bank Md Zakir Hossain.
Mr Farouq told FE, "The summoned officials have complied with the HC's order by serving relevant notices to my client as an elected director, as the court earlier directed to do so following a company matter."
Earlier on October 21, the HC summoned them and issued rule over the contempt of court petition filed by Mr Hossain.
