HC grants bail to Sangram editor Abul Asad

The High Court on Wednesday granted ad-interim bail for one year to Abul Asad, editor of Daily Sangram, in a case filed under Digital Security Act for publishing a report describing executed Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Molla a 'martyr.'
The HC bench of Justice Md Emdadul Huq and Justice Md Akram Hossain Chowdhury passed the order including a rule after hearing a bail petition filed by the lawyers of the Sangram editor.
Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain and Advocate Muhammad Shishir Manir took part in the hearing on behalf of Abul Asad, while Deputy Attorney General Gias Uddin Ahmed represented the state.
Counsels of the Sangram editor filed the petition with the High Court on May 11 this year after resumption of virtual version of the High Court activities.
