The High Court (HC) on Sunday issued a contempt of court rule against Prothom Alo editor Motiur Rahman and its assistant editor Mizanur Rahman Khan for publishing two articles in the newspaper. An HC division bench comprising Barrister Naima Haider and Barrister Zafar Ahmed issued the suo moto rule asking Prothom Alo editor and assistant editor why action would not be taken against them for publishing the two articles, titled ‘Minutey Ekti Agam Jamin Kibhabey?’ and ‘Chhoy thekey Aat Saptaher Swadhinata’, in its Friday (Feb 28) and Saturday (Mar 1) issue respectively. The HC also asked Mizanur Rahman Khan to appear before the court on March 6 (Thursday). The court passed the orders upon a petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Abu Taleb, according to UNB.
