HC issues rule to complain against ex-Pak cricketer Waqar Younis

FE REPORT | Thursday, 9 November 2023

The High Court on Wednesday issued a rule asking the Bangladesh Cricket Board to explain as to why it should not be directed to complain to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and ask it to strike off former Pakistani cricketer WaqarYounis' name from its list of commentators for badly criticising Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan.
The HC bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice MdAtabullah passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer ABM Waliur Rahman Khan seeking necessary directives regarding the issue.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and its President have been asked to comply with the rule in 10 days.
Lawyer ABM Waliur Rahman Khan himself argued for his petition, while Deputy Attorney General TusharKanti Roy represented the state.
The bench fixed November 19 for holding hearing on the rule, said Deputy Attorney General TusharKanti Roy.
