HC issues rules against 16th Amendment

The High Court (HC) on Sunday issued a rule asking the government to explain why 16th Amendment Act that empowers the Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament) to sack Supreme Court judges, should not be abolished. The ruling party this year amended the Constitution, abolishing the Supreme Judicial Council allowinng the parliament to impeach the judges of the country’s apex court. The 16th Amendment was passed in the House a few months ago, according to private TV channels.
