HC issues suo moto rule on police boss

Wednesday, 26 May 2010

The High Court (HC) has issued a suo moto rule asking the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and others to explain in a week about the veracity of the news published Tuesday in the daily
'Amader Shomoy' captioned "300 vehicles requisitioned a day after the High Court directives."
On Sunday, the HC following a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) writ petition put an embargo on the law enforcers from requisitioning private vehicles except in public interest, reports UNB.
The 'Amader Shomoy' report says that no impact is visible following the HC orders. "Requisitioning of private vehicles on the streets is on as usual," it said referring to the officials (Traffic).
