HC orders halt to demolition of Lalbagh Fort boundary wall

The High Court (HC) directed the authorities concerned on Sunday to stop demolition of the boundary wall of Lalbagh Fort within 24 hours, reports BSS.
An HC bench comprising Justice Reza-ul Haq and Justice Abu Taher M Saifur Rahman delivered the order after holding a preliminary hearing on a writ petition.
At the same time, HC benched issued a rule to explain in two weeks why directives would not be issued to preserve the Lalbagh Fort a relic of Mughal establishments in the capital.
Secretary of cultural affairs ministry, director general of department of archeology, curator of Lalbagh Fort and officer-in-charge of Lalbagh police station will have to implement the court order.
A report would have to be submitted in the court within July 5 on the progress of implementation of the orders.
