HC orders status quo in running Proshika

Wednesday, 12 August 2009

The High Court (HC) Tuesday asked to maintain status quo over the dispute surrounding the governing of Proshika, a leading non-government organisation (NGO) of the country, reports UNB.
A single bench of Justice MA Salam delivered the judgment upon a revision petition filed by Qazi Faruque Ahmed, who was removed from the chairmanship of Proshika he had founded.
The HC verdict, however, said there was no bar for Qazi Faruque as a former Proshika chairman to individually go to Proshika, but he was not allowed to go there along with his henchmen.
On May 24, the governing body axed Qazi Faruque as the chairman and appointed M Abdul Wadud as the new chairman and Mahbub-ul-Karim as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Proshika.
