HC permits Zubaida to appeal against sentence in graft case

The High Court (HC) has permitted Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, to appeal against her three-year jail sentence in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for owning wealth and assets beyond known sources of income, reports bdnews24.com.
The court also pardoned Zubaida's delay of 587 days in responding to the case.
The single bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman issued the order on Tuesday after hearing a petition on the matter
Zubaida's legal counsel, Kaysar Kamal, shared the information. He said, "As the court granted her petition to be pardoned for the delay, she will now appeal."On October 2, last year, the government deferred the sentence against Zubaida in a case filed by ACC.
