HC rejects Mosharraf\\\'s petition, asks him to surrender

The High Court (HC) dismissed  on Tuesday the writ petition filed by former state minister for energy AKM Mosharraf Hossain challenging the inclusion and legality of the Gatco graft case against him, reports UNB.
An HC bench of Justice Bhabani Prasad Sinha and Justice SM Mujibur Rahman passed the order after a hearing on the writ petition.
The HC also asked Mosharraf to surrender before the lower court within two months.
Khurshid Alam, lawyer of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said the proceedings of the graft case against Mosharraf had long been stayed following a petition filed by him but from now there is no bar to continue the case against him.$
On September 2, 2007, the ACC filed the Gatco graft case with Tejgaon thana against Mosharraf and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and 11 others for causing a loss of Tk 1.45 billion (145.64 crore) to the national exchequer by allegedly awarding the contract of container handling at the Chittagong port and the Dhaka's Inland Container Depot to Gatco.
