HC rejects writ on transit, deep-sea port

Friday, 8 June 2007

The High Court (HC) Thursday outright rejected a public interest litigation writ petition challenging the reported moves of the government to lease the proposed Chittagong deep-sea port to a US company, and transit facilities to India. The petition, filed by Advocate AK Farid Uddin Ahmed, was rejected on the ground that it has no substance, court sources said. The HC Division Bench comprising Justice Nazmun Ara and Justice Farid Ahmed heard the petition Wednesday, and delivered the judgment. — UNB
