Friday, 13 January 2012

The High Court scrapped the Feni trial court verdict sentencing Joynal Hazari, an ex-MP of Awami League, to seven years' imprisonment in an arms case Thursday, reports UNB.
An HC division bench, headed by Justice M Rezaul Haque, delivered the judgment on a quashing petition filed by Hazari in 2009.
After the recovery of a bullet from Hazari's office at Love Market, sub-inspector of Feni police station filed the arms case against him in August in 2001.
In September 2003, the trial court had found Hazari guilty of the charge and sentenced him to seven years' imprisonment.
Advocate M Saiful Alam appeared for Hazari while Zahidul Huq for the state.
