HC stays ACC notice on former energy adviser

The High Court Tuesday stayed an order asking former energy adviser Mahmudur Rahman to provide information of his wealth, reports bdnews24.com.
The bench of Justice Nozrul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Jahangir Hossain stayed a notice of the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) by three months upon the petitioner's appeal.
This notice, served on April 13 had asked Mr Rahman, a former energy adviser of the BNP-led government, also acting editor of the daily Amar Desh, to provide information about the source of his wealth.
The court also asked the ACC to explain why the procedure of the notice should not be suspended.
Mr Rahman, on April 14, filed a petition with a lower court seeking a stay order on the notice. The appeal was rejected on April 21.
Barrister Abdur Razza-que stood for the petitioner while advocate Khurshid Alam Khan fought for the Anti-corruption Commission.
