The High Court on Monday stayed for six months the share transaction of Union Bank, owned by former president and Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad. High Court judge Rezaul Hasan passed the order after a hearing on a petition filed by Ershad’s business partner Golam Mursi. Golam Mursi’s lawyer Dr Kazi Akhtar Hamid, said Ershad signed an agreement with his client on July 22, 2012 over giving Mursi 6 per cent share and premium of Tk 6.33 crore of Union Bank, but he did not give him the share and premium as per the deal. Later, Mursi filed a case with the HC under the Bank Company Act, according to a news agency.
