HC summons 2 cops over kidney removal

The High Court has summoned the OC of Ullaparha Police Station in Sirajganj district and the officer investigating a case involving a child’s death in the hands of organ traffickers. A 6-year-old child, Harun, was killed, his kidneys were removed and his body was dumped in a lake in Ullaparha Upazila on April 22. His body was found on April 26, and police arrested ‘Khalil’, one of the men involved in the crime, on April 27. Based on his confession, Jahangir Hossain Chand, allegedly the mastermind behind this crime, was caught on May 3. The bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Ejarul Haque Akondo issued the order on Tuesday after hearing a petition. The bench asked the two officials to present themselves to the court on May 18 with a progress report on the investigation. A rule was also issued asking why action would not be taken against those involved in the heinous crime. The home secretary, the director general of health, Ullaparha OC and five other officials were ordered to reply within a month, according to bdnews24.com.
