Monday, 7 April 2014
The High Court summoned BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and two leaders of Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (DAB) Monday over a contempt of court charge.
An HC bench comprising Justice Kazi Reza-Ul Haq and justice ABM Altaf Hossain passed the suo moto order following newspaper reports.
The DAB leaders are its vice-president Prof Dr M A Salam and secretary general Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain. The court asked them to appear before it on April 20.
On Sunday, at a human chain, organised by DAB in front of the National Press Club, Gayeshwar said, ‘All courts are confined in Mujib coat’.
The court also issued a suo moto rule asking them to explain why legal steps would not be taken against them for making such a comment, according to a news agency.
