HC verdict April 15

FE Report | Friday, 10 April 2015

The High Court (HC) Thursday fixed April 15 for delivering its verdict on a petition filed seeking whereabouts of 'missing' BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed.
Concluding hearing on its earlier rule on the matter, the HC bench comprising Justice Quamrul Islam Siddique and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore set the date.
On March 12, the HC issued the rule asking the government to explain as to why an order should not be issued to find Mr Salahuddin and produce him before the court by 10:00am on March 15.
Responding to the rule, law-enforcing agencies, in their reports on March 15, said that they neither arrested 'missing' Mr Salahuddin nor they are aware of his whereabouts.
The rule was issued following a petition filed by Hasina Ahmed, wife of Mr Salahuddin, seeking to know whereabouts of her husband within 24 hours.
Later on April 8, her lawyers also sought the HC's order on the government to form a judicial probe body to unearth the reasons and persons behind failure of the authorities to find him.
Mr Salahuddin Ahmed, a former state minister and BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) lawmaker, has been missing since March 10.
