Alyssa Healy produced another batting masterclass as Australia stormed into the semi-finals of the Women's World Cup with a commanding 10-wicket win over Bangladesh, reports bdnews24.com
The Australian captain followed her 142 against India with an unbeaten 113 off 77 balls, powering the defending champions to their highest successful World Cup chase without losing a wicket in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.
Partner Phoebe Litchfield added an assured 84 not out as the pair stitched an unbroken 202-run stand -- the second-highest opening partnership in women's ODIs -- to overhaul Bangladesh's 198 for 9 with 25.1 overs remaining.
Earlier, Alana King's miserly spell of 2 for 18 from 10 overs, laced with four maidens, and Georgia Wareham's 2 for 22 kept Bangladesh in check despite a spirited 66 not out from Sobhana Mostary.
The Tigresses' total was boosted by 28 runs in the final three overs, most of them from Mostary, but lacked support from the rest of the line-up -- only Rubya Haider crossed 19.
Australia's fielding was uncharacteristically sloppy, with six dropped catches and several missed chances, yet their dominance with bat and ball left little room for consequence.
Healy and Litchfield began watchfully against new-ball pair Fariha Trisna and Nishita Akter Nishi, but once settled, they accelerated briskly -- 78 without loss at the end of the powerplay.
Litchfield reached her half-century from 46 balls soon after Healy's 43-ball fifty, the pair capitalising on Bangladesh's missed opportunities, including two dropped catches.
Healy sealed the result with three consecutive boundaries off Ritu Moni before Litchfield finished the chase in style with back-to-back fours off Trisna.
Bangladesh's innings had earlier crumbled in the middle overs as King and Wareham shared four wickets to squeeze the scoring. Annabel Sutherland chipped in with two wickets to rise to the top of the tournament's wicket-takers'
list with 12.
