Hearing adjourned until January 9

Hearing on the government's appeal against the High Court (HC) order in jail killing case has been adjourned until January 9, 2011, reports bdnews24.com.
A regular bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque, Monday adjourned the hearing following an appeal from the government for re-trial.
Chief counsel of the government Anisul Haque said they needed time for submitting records of 'conspiracy' and for discussions with relatives of the persons killed in jail.
Attorney General Mahbub-e-Alam was present at the hearing. The present government revived the long-pending jail killing case after assuming office and carrying out the verdict in Bangabandhu murder case.
Hearing on the government's appeal started on November 7.
The four leaders of the wartime national government-Acting President Syed Nazrul Islam, Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmed and cabinet ministers M Mansur Ali and AHM Qamruzzaman-were brutally killed inside the Dhaka Central Jail on November 3, 1975.
Children of the four national leaders have been pressing their demand for a re-trial after most of the accused of the jail killing case were freed.
During the tenure of Awami League (AL), accusations were submitted against 23 persons on October 15, 1998, 23 years after the case had been filed.
On October 20, Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Md Matiur Rahman gave the order of death sentence to Risalder Moslem Uddin (absconding), Dafader Marfat Ali Shah (absconding) and LD Abul Hashem Mridha (absconding).
Life-time imprisonment was given to 15 persons including death-row convicts of Bangabandhu killing case Syed Faruk Rahman and Bazlul Huda.
BNP leaders KM Obaidur Rahman, Shah Moazzem Hossain, Nurul Islam Manjur and Taher Uddin Thakur were freed.
The government on September 14, 2009, filed a leave-to-appeal against the verdict.
