Hearing adjourned until Nov 29

The hearing of opposition leader Khaleda Zia's appeal challenging a previous High Court verdict regarding her cantonment house has been adjourned until November 29, bdnews24.com.
A regular bench of the appellate division, headed by chief justice ABM Khairul Haque, gave the order around 9.45am Wednesday, in response to an appeal by Khaleda's lawyer TH Khan.
On October 13, the High Court scrapped Khaleda's petition challenging the government's eviction notice asking her to leave her Shaheed Mainul Road residence. It also asked the opposition leader to leave the residence within a month, the deadline of which ends on November 12.
"The court has been adjourned until November 29. The implementation of the High Court verdict will have to be stayed until then even though the court did not give any specific stay order," TH Khan told journalists after the hearing.
However, attorney general Mahbubey Alam pointed out that the Appellate Division did not give any stay order on the High Court verdict. Khaleda's lawyers also did not appeal for a stay order Wednesday, he added.
Clarifying to journalists on whether the High Court verdict can be implemented, he added, "Why should there be a bar on its (the High Court verdict) implementation? The appellate division did not give any stay order."
"The law will take its own course. And the government will decide on this," he said.
Mahbubey Alam countered the claim by the petitioner's lawyer and said, "The verdict's implementation will not be stayed only because it is under consideration of the Appellate Division. A separate petition is needed for its stay. Its implementation will only be barred if a stay order is given."
Security was tightened at the court premises for the hearing with everyone entering the court being thoroughly frisked.
