Hearing against BNP leader Falu adjourned until July 31

A Dhaka court has adjourned until July 31 the hearing in a graft case against BNP leader Mosaddeq Ali Falu, reports BSS.
As no witnesses appeared to testify, Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam at Dhaka Special Judge Court-10, adjourned the hearing till July 31, allowing a time plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the case documents, following a notice from the ACC, Falu filed his wealth statement on March 1, 2007. The ACC in his probe after that found evidence of amassing an illegal wealth of Tk 456.6 million by the BNP leader and concealing information of wealth of Taka 106 million.
The anti-graft body filed the case with the capital's Motijheel thana on July 8, 2007. ACC assistant director Jahangir Alam filed the charge sheet on February 14, 2008.
After the charge sheet, Falu pleaded with the High Court to stay the case proceedings. Allowing the plea, the High Court stayed the proceedings, which was eventually scrapped.
