Friday, 14 March 2014
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 Thursday adjourned the hearing of the trial of Matiur Rahman Nizami, charged with committing crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation, until March 19, reports BSS.
The ICT-1 set the date as Advocate Mizanul Islam, counsel for Nizami, placed arguments in support of his high-profile client for the first day.
In his argument the defence counsel termed the case against the incumbent Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami politically motivated.
Another report adds: The ICT-2 Thursday adjourned the hearing of the trial of Syed Md Qaiser, charged with committing crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation, until March 19.
The second tribunal deferred the hearing accepting a plea of defence counsel Abdus Sobhan Tarafder. Advocate Sobhan, counsel for Qaiser, cross-examined Kazi Kabiruddin, 72, for the third consecutive day and at one stage the defence counsel fell sick and pleaded for adjournment.
