Hearing on appeals in graft case: HC bench embarrassed

A High Court (HC) bench refused Sunday to hear appeals of five accused to quash the Boropukuria coalmine graft case. The HC bench comprising Justice Syed AB Mahmudul Haque and Justice Moinul Islam Chowdhury said they were embarrassed to hear the appeals, and sent the documents to the Chief Justice (CJ) to take further action in this regard. The five appellants are former ministers M Saifur Rahman, Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami and Jamaat secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid. — bdnews24.com.
