Hearing on chargeframing against five Razakars today

The hearing on charge framing against five people will now be held  today (Tuesday) at the International Crimes Tribunal in a case filed for their alleged involvement in the crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in Karimganj of Kishoreganj district, reports UNB.
The tribunal, headed by Anwarul Haque, fixed the date on Monday as the members of the reconstituted ICT are not informed of the charges brought against the accused.
The accused are Advocate Shamsuddin Ahmed, his brother Captain (retd) Nasiruddin Ahmed, Razakar commander Gazi Abdul Mannan, Hafiz Uddin and Azharul Islam. Of them, Nasiruddin has been on the run.
Mohammad Atiqur Rahman and Abdus Shukur Khan stood for the accused while Sultan Mahmud Shimon, Tapash Kanti Bal and Sultana Rezia represented the state.
On May 13 this year, the tribunal took cognisance of charges against the five accused on seven allegations, including mass killing, arrest, loot and torture.
The accused reportedly committed crimes against humanity in Bidyanagar, Ayla, Fatergup beel, Piratan beel in Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj district during the 1971 Liberation War.
Ataur Rahman, investigation officer of the case, submitted a report against Shamsudin and Nasiruddin-two sons of late Abdur Razzak Munshi of Karimganj Madhyapara village. Nasiruddin was a retired captain of East Bengal Regiment.
