Heat wave likely to subside in next few days

The prevailing heat wave may start subsiding in the next few days as people in most parts of the country, including the capital, Dhaka, may witness light to heavy rainfall caused by low pressure from Wednesday, according to officials.
Shahnaz Sultana, a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), predicted that the current heat wave may abate from today as the low-pressure area over Westcentral Bay & adjoining Northwest Bay off North Andaman Pradesh South Odisha coasts has intensified into a well-marked low over the same area on Tuesday.
The Met office in its 24-hour bulletin starting from Tuesday evening said light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours.
Rain may take place at a few places over Rangpur, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal & Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi division with moderately heavy rainfall at places over the country, it forecasted.
Mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Rajshahi, Pabna, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Nilphamari & Moulvibazar and it may abate, according to the Met office bulletin.
Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay, it said.
Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.
In its 48-hour outlook, it said rainfall activity may increase. Sylhet recorded the highest 30 millimetre (mm) rainfall on Tuesday.
Rajshahi reported the highest 37.8 degree Celsius while Dhaka recorded 36.6 degree Celsius, it added.
