Heat wave to last for three more days

Saturday, 25 April 2009

FE Report
The hot spell now sweeping over the country is likely to continue for three to four more days, Met officials said.
The hot and humid weather has disrupted the public life seriously in the country.
"The heat wave may continue for three or four more days. The situation might return to normalcy after it rains in about three days time," an on-duty met official told FE.
The highest temperature was recorded Friday at 41.5 degree Celsius in Jessore and the lowest 21.8 degree in Rangpur.
The temperature in the capital was recorded at 38.5 degree Celsius while humidity was 69 in the morning and 56 in the evening, making the city life miserable.
Many people in the city were seen having juicy cucumber and watermelon to get some relief from scorching heat.
The people are also suffering from dehydration and sunstroke as the cities and towns have been hit by short supply of drinking water due to frequent outage of electricity. Many people, mostly children, have also fallen sick after talking contaminated water and rotten food.
DMCH sources said some 150 children were admitted at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the last couple of days due to illness caused by the heat wave.
