Heatwave sweeping eight divs

A mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping eight divisions across the country and is likely to continue, the meteorological office forecast on Thursday, reports BSS.
Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions are experiencing a mild to moderate heatwave, which is expected to persist, said the Met Office.
It said increased moisture levels may lead to continued discomfort. The weather may remain mainly dry, with occasional partly cloudy skies across the country.
The highest temperature on Wednesday was 39.0 degrees Celsius in Dinajpur. The lowest temperature on Thursday was 23.1 degrees Celsius in Tetulia.
Tetulia also witnessed the maximum rainfall in the past 24 hours, with 3 millimetres recorded up to 6 am on Thursday.
A westerly low-pressure trough is currently situated over West Bengal and the northwest Bay of Bengal.
