Heavy industries to be set up in the country: Amu

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu has said that the government has plans to set up heavy industries across the country and undertook a goon number of projects in the last five years. The minister made remark while replying to a question of Jatiya Party lawmaker Begum Salma Islam raised by treasury bench member AKM Jahangir Hossain on her behalf in the parliament. The minister said the projects included North-West Fertilizer project, High Capacity Urea Fertilizer Factory on the premises of the Urea Fertilizer Factory Limited and Palash Urea Fertilizer Factory Limited, Clinker/Cement Factory, Shahjalal Fertilizer Project, Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation, Chittagong Dry-dock Limited and agriculture based industries. He said Shahjalal Fertilizer Factory will go into production in the middle of 2015 while Clinker/Cement Factory will be set up within three years. The work on North-West Fertilizer project will be completed within the next five years, Amu added, according to a news agency.
