Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely

Due to active monsoon over Bangladesh heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions during the next 24 hours ending at 11am on Sunday. Under the influence of heavy to very heavy rainfall landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, a bulletin by the Met Office said on Saturday. It said advised maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to keep hoist local cautionary signal no 3. All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. The weather bulletin said Met Office recorded highest rainfall (256 millimeters) in last 24 hours in Sandwip Upazila of Chittagong followed by 241mm recorded at Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar, according to BSS.
