Help smokers quit

Saturday, 2 September 2023

Most of us know that smoking kills. Despite the fact, we are one of the leading countries in terms of smokers with the lowest quitting rates of smoking. A survey, conducted by some British researchers shows that smoking cigarettes affects not only the smokers but also their grandchildren. According to the study, published in the journal Scientific Reports, the young girls who are overweight cannot always be attributed to their lack of diet or exercise. The researchers have claimed that their ancestors' smoking habit at a very young age could cause them to accumulate fat in their body.
Although tobacco claims millions of lives in the country every year, no effective measure has yet been taken to curb this menace. Misinformation in our society plays a key role in preventing smokers from quitting. Many smokers still believe that cigarettes are not as harmful as said. Awareness campaigns should be launched in order to help our smokers quit. Their families and friends should stand by them and help them quit this harmful habit.
