Helping youths put less pressure on themselves
Wednesday, 22 June 2022
If we closely look at our youths, we will be able to see that many of them are struggling from depression, anxiety, and uncertainty. In my view, the high rate of unemployment is the biggest factor that has contributed to a surge in suicides and frustration among our youths.
When these youths are being over-pressurised by their families, when they do not manage to achieve something like a government job, a feeling of complete worthlessness takes over them. The consequence is that either some of them commit suicide, or they indulge in criminal activities and drugs.
The authorities concerned should take steps that are able to provide more job opportunities at the earliest for our youths. On the other hand, parents should encourage their children to do their best instead of putting too much pressure on them.
