Hema Malini hurt, child killed in road crash

Mumbai movie star-turned politician Hema Malini was injured in a fatal road accident in Rajasthan on Thursday night that also left a minor killed. The accident involved a Mercedes-Benz car owned by Hema Malini and a Maruti Alto. The mishap took place in Dausa area of India’s Rajasthan state. Hema, a former Bollywood heroine and now a BJP lawmaker, was on her way to Rajasthan’s Jaipur and the minor, a girlchild, was the occupant of the Maruti Alto. The other occupants of Alto, a small car, were critically injured in the accident. There were five occupants in the Alto — 2 women, 2 children and a man, a Dausa district official said. Dausa Collector Swaroop Panwar said two of the survivours were seriously injured. Hema Malini too was injured and photos on Twitter showed the Indian parliament member with a blood-splattered face walking in a daze. Television visuals showed her damaged car being cordoned off on the road by police personnel. She was admitted to the Fortis Hospital in Jaipur. The 66-year-old actress received a stitch on her head and is reported to be fine, according to her close aide, according to The Hindu.
