Wednesday, 25 June 2008

DiabeNo, the herbal anti-diabetic tea, has got huge response from diabetic patients as the number of its users is increasing day by day, reports BSS.

Sources in the BCSIR (Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), which has invented the tea, said nearly 50 diabetic patients, on an average, come to the DiabeNo Service Centre daily to enquire about the tea.

The service centre was opened on June 10 at the BCSIR at Dr Kudrat-i-Khuda Road at Dhanmondi (Science Laboratory) in cooperation with Fame Pharmaceuticals. A show room for selling the tea was also set up at the centre.

"We are getting tremendous response from the diabetic patients, and countries like England and Spain have shown keen interest in importing the tea," said Md Abdur Razzak, public relations officer of BCSIR.

"Seeing the people's interest we have set up the service centre and show room at the BCSIR," he added.

Razzak said a group of BCSIR scientists comprising Dr Ezharul Hossain, Kabir Ahmed, Dr Barun Kanti Saha, Dr Ashish Kumar Sarker and Bidhan Krishna Roy developed the tea from leaves of Jarul tree (scientific name Lagerstroemia Speciosa).
