High commissioner of Singapore meets opposition leader Shafiqur Rahman

Singapore's Non-Resident High Commissioner Derek Loh on Monday paid a courtesy call on opposition leader of the parliament Dr Shafiqur Rahman at his Bashundara office in the capital, reports BSS.
Singapore High Commission charge d' affairs Michael Lee and Country Director for South Asia Mr Tae Dae Ern also attended with the High Commissioner, said a parliament secretariat release. Opposition leader's foreign affairs adviser Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman, MP, also attended the meeting. The meeting was held in very cordial and friendly environment.
During the meeting, they also have exchanged views on country's present political and economic situation, industrial-commercial development, different important issues including post parliament polls democratic progress, referendum and necessary state reform through implementing the July charter.
During the call on, the Singaporean Non-Resident High Commissioner praised positive role of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in economic development and democratic progress of Bangladesh.
At the same time, the High Commissioner also expressed the hope for strengthening bilateral relations more between Bangladesh and Singapore in future, enhancing area of cooperation and creating new potential of development initiative of both the countries.
