High commodity prices and helpless consumers

 The lower and middle income people of the country are indeed becoming increasingly frustrated with rising prices of essentials. As they have a limited budget out of a limited income, they cannot go to the kitchen market and buy every item they need. The price of green chilli is hovering around Tk.200 per kg. Onion drives tears rolling down their eyes. The price of beef is not coming down and staying around Tk.400 per kg. The sellers cite various excuses like rain, flood and increasing price. I am sure that prices of spice, sugar and other materials will go up once again on the eve of Eid. The government's decision to increase power tariff has added more salt to the injury. Scholars and experts are of the opinion that increased power tariff is unjustifiable and has smooth another hole in the pocket of the middle class. The concerned authorities should intervene and bring down the commodity prices immediately so that the common men are able to make a decent living and celebrate the coming Eid-ul-Azha with peace and comfort. The greedy and unscrupulous traders should not be allowed to reign over the market and do whatever they like in order to rob the common people in an indiscriminate fashion.
