High interest rate

Friday, 28 August 2015

The high interest rate in our country discourages new investors. While interest rate for fixed deposits was reduced from 13 per cent to 9 or 10 per cent, the rate of interest on loan has remained the same. It would be equally beneficial for both the lenders and borrowers if the interest rate is lowered. High interest rate makes borrowing more expensive and raises the cost of running a business.
There should be a harmony between the borrowing and lending interest rates and the difference between the two should not be more than 3 per cent. I hope the central bank will look into the matter and bring about parity in interest rates so that the economy can thrive.
