High quality stones in Dharla River

High quality stones and stone chips have been found in Dharla River bed during piling for construction of a bridge in Lalmonirhat district, Zahid Hasan Mondal, assistant engineer of LGED, has said that high quality stones and stone chips have been discovered about 40 feet under the river bed recently. Navana group, a private firm, is constructing the second Dharla bridge at a cost of Tk 200 crore which will connect Lalmonirhat with Fulbari upazila of Kurigram district. The construction company made their design for piling up to 45 feet below the river bed for constructing bases of the pillars. ‘We found a strong layer of stones before reaching that point,’ Zahid Hasan said. ‘I hope these stones will be used in different development works of the district in future and bring economic development,’ he added, according to a news agency.
